  Professor Xiaodong Zhu received his BSc. in mathematics and MSc.in mathematical statistics from Wuhan University, and PhD in economics from University of Chicago. He is currently a professor of economics at the University of Toronto, special-term professor at the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance, and co-director of the Economic Development Research Center at Wuhan University. Professor Zhu has published many papers on fiscal policy, growth and development, and Chinese economy in top economic journals such as Journal of Political Economy, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of Economic Perspectives and Review of Economic Dynamics. Professor Zhu’s research on the Chinese economy is wide-ranging, including trade, migration, structural change, misallocation, growth, aggregate fluctuations, financial system and monetary policy.
